NO PARENTS FOR A WEEK: After reading "Farmer Boy" by Laura I. Wilder, Southern York County School District students in Mrs. Cathy Siegel's fourth-grade class wrote what they would do if their parents left them alone at their house for a week.

Lily Yoakam

If I were ever left home alone with my sister, I would stay up all night watching movies and eating popcorn. I would be the boss of the house for the whole entire week. Also, my sister and I would play Wii every night. Mostly, I would go see my friends and sleep over and play all day. For dinner, I would make toast and sandwiches. Lastly, I would only sleep when I was tired.

If my brother, my sister, and I were left home alone, my older brother Derik would be in charge because he is the oldest. We would probably stay up late and watch TV all day! We would probably eat ... I don't know about all of the junk food in the house! I think we would also cut all the strawberries, and I wouldn't be surprised if all three of us got sick. Allison, my little sister, would get scared at night. Being home alone would probably be very, very chaotic!

RJ Myers

If my parents left for a week, my sister Danielle would be the boss. The first day they would be gone, she would make us do chores, and then one would say go do something, and she'd go back to bed. The rest of the week, she would wake up at 12:00 p.m.! My brother Ryan and I would play video games, watch TV, and play Bakugan until Danielle makes us lunch. Then we would go outside and play Star-Wars and other games that involve us fighting each other with swords like Kingdom Hearts. That's what we would do if we were left all alone.
