VALENTINE'S DAY -- York City School District students in Mrs. Hess and Mr. LoBianco's sixth-grade class were asked to choose a type of poetry/writing to complete an assignment on the topic of Valentine's Day.
ISAIAH RITTER
Roses are red, violets are blue,
Candy is sweet, and so are you.
A daisy is yellow, I like Jell-O,
When will you ask me to be your fellow?
ALEXANDER RODRIGUEZ
I love you, you love me.
We are attached, like a bug on a tree.
We are attached, like the green on a leaf.
I will always love you, will you love me?
I love you so much, I will never leave.
EVONIO BANKS
February, February,
The season of love.
February, February,
Get some love.
February, February,
Have some hugs.
Valentine's Day
Everybody wants some love!
Valentine's Day, Valentine's Day,
The day is here.
Valentine's Day, Valentine's Day,
Everybody cheer!
Come on everybody,
Say Valentine's Day!
TALHJIA BROWN
Why is it all love and hearts all over the world tonight?
Why is cupid shooting bows at people?
Why are people falling in love and couples buying each other rings and candy?
Do you know what Valentine's Day is, if not check it out ...
Why do people love on Valentine's Day?
Because it is a day when everyone should love and receive love.
Do you know one thing you shouldn't do today? Hate.
Hate is weak ... you should never hate, especially on Valentine's Day.
SHIKYHIA JOHNSON
What is Valentine's Day?
Valentine's Day is a day to love ... one another
Valentine's Day is a day to care for ... one another
Valentine's Day is a day to give a card to ... one another
Valentine's Day is a day to admire ... one another
Valentine's Day is all about ... family, friends, lovers, happiness, and love.
DEVANTE TORRES
What happens during Valentine's Day?
On Valentine's Day you will see people showing love and respect all day.
It is the day when people give out gifts, candy and flowers.
On Valentine's Day you hear a lot of love songs and see happiness everywhere.
You see love, kisses, and balloons.
These are the things that happen on Valentine's Day!
KIAUNTE HUTCHINSON
Valentine's Day is the day of love.
Mostly everybody celebrates it, even a bug.
Valentine's Day is when people give and share,
They do that because they care.
If you like Valentine's, you have to show it,
And if you do, I'll give you a hug.
The only thing you have to say is Happy Valentine's Day!
MICHAEL JACKSON
Dear Family,
Thank you for caring for me. What would I do if I didn't have you?
You give me a place to stay. You pull out money to keep clothes on my back and food in my belly. Even when you don't have any money you give what you can give.
Thank you for all the places you took me and all the fun things we do. Because of all you do, I want to show you my love and appreciation on this special day.
LINETTE CASTILLO
What Valentine's Day means to me:
It means love, being with family,
Eating chocolate,
Giving hugs and kisses, giving cards,
Getting teddy bears, getting flowers,
Being a sweetheart, getting and giving balloons,
And just loving each other.
That is what Valentine's Day is all about.
RYAN BRIGGS
When I first saw you,
It was love at first sight.
Now, you may not believe
In love at first sight.
Other people might not like you anymore,
But I wish you would knock on my door.
When you hit the dance floor,
You make everyone want an encore.
You stole my heart when we fell apart.
Will you be my Valentine just one more time?
GREGORY FREELAND
The word Valentine's is a very delicate word.
Which is why so little people can use it.
Valentine's is also the decorated home of
Kisses, hugs, candies, couples, sweethearts, crushes, and admirers.
Valentine's, Valentine's, it reminds you of
The word Clementine, does it not?
Valentine's is just another way to
Express the word love which means the
Word that describes that special person
For which you found.
Valentine's Day, in its own way, has a
Weird way of getting to people.
One person cannot like another person
But still have remorse for them on
This very special day.
In a way, Valentine's Day is a special day.
