Stop polluting air, water, land

A Southern York County School District student in Christine Gerber's fifth-grade class at Southern Elementary School wrote this persuasive essay.

By Nathan Rivers

Stop Pollution: I believe that humans should stop polluting. People should stop air polluting, water polluting and land pollution, for the sake of the Earth.

The first form of pollution that we need to prevent is air pollution.

Air pollution is what causes the global warming, which can cause the Earth to be extremely hot.

The second reason we should stop air pollution is because all the heat from the global warming is melting the polar ice caps. With all the water coming off the melting polar ice caps it's making the oceans overflow, that can cause flooding.

The final reason that we should stop air pollution is that air pollution can destroy the o-zone. Without the o-zone, too much sunlight will get to Earth.

The second type of pollution that we need to stop is water pollution.

Water pollution kills animals that live in the water.

Also, it can cause diseased fish and shellfish, which can't be eaten.

Finally, the bad water can cause diseases for humans in drinking water.

The final type of pollution that we need to stop is land pollution.

With polluted land, we can't use the natural resources. Insecticides that are sprayed on crops are poisonous to humans.

Finally, the land is food to animals, and if they eat grass in an area that has been polluted, they could die.

In conclusion, we should stop all types of pollution because pollution endangers the earth and people's lives.

Don't you agree?
